Regular Season Round 9: Antwerp - Charleroi 66-77

One of the most interesting games of round 9 was a derby match between two teams from Belgium. Fifth ranked Spirou Charleroi won against host Antwerp Giants (3-4) 77-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Antwerp Giants. Spirou Charleroi made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Puerto Rican-Panamanian point guard Jhivvan Jackson (183-1998, college: UTSA) nailed 30 points and 4 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Dutch center Nathan Kuta (203-2000) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Royce Hamm Jr (206-1999, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Brandon Anderson (185-1997, college: Brown) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Antwerp Giants in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spirou Charleroi (5-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Aalst and Yoast Utd. Antwerp Giants at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Spirou Charleroi will play against Leuven Bears (#7) at home in the next round. Antwerp Giants will play against the league's leader Oostende and hope to get back on the winning track.
