There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Koeln DTV (6-6) edged on the road higher ranked Hagen BG (6-6) 77-76 on Friday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 39-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by American-British guard Elijah Jenkins (190, college: Embry Riddle) who scored that evening 24 points and guard Jacob Engelhardt (190-1997) supported him with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by naturalized American point guard Anthony Watkins (194-2000) did not help to save the game for Hagen BG. Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-1987) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Koeln DTV moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Hagen BG. Koeln DTV will meet at home league's leader ETB Miners in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hagen BG will play against Recklinghausen (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
