Regular Season Round 9: Siauliai - TTT Riga 69-72

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Lithuanian Siauliai (2-6) was edged at home by ninth ranked Latvian TTT Riga (2-3) 72-69 on Friday. Forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (182-1980, college: Siena) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Polish swingman Emilia Kosla (178-2001) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Morgan Lenahan (180-1997, college: Midwestern St.) with 17 points and 6 assists and forward Brigita Rimkeviciute (181-2005) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Latvian champion moved-up to eighth place. Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. TTT Riga will meet higher ranked LCC Tarp. (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Siauliai will play against Daugavpils Universitate and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
