Everything could happen in Trier at the game between two tied teams. Both seventeenth ranked Gladiators and 15th ranked SparkassenStars had identical 2-7 record. This time Gladiators used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Bochum 116-110 on Saturday night. Gladiators dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to SparkassenStars' 34. They outrebounded SparkassenStars 51-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gladiators made 7 blocks. American Daniel Monteroso (191-1994, college: West Liberty) scored 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Travis Daniels (203-1992, college: MSU) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) during the contest. Gladiators will meet higher ranked Muenster (#12) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SparkassenStars will play against Schwenningen (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
