Regular Season Round 18: Kretinga - Rytas 2 97-103

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Kretinga (6-10) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Rytas 2 (5-12) 103-97 on Saturday. Rytas 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Kretinga's 46. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Adas Simonis (192-2001) notched 27 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and Greek Andreas Kalogiros (198-2002) supported him with 7 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Rytas 2's coach Andrius Slezas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists by guard Martynas Mazeika (193-1985, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Kretinga. Ukrainian swingman Maksym Lutsenko (188-1993, agency: BIG) added 24 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rytas 2 moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Atletas. Loser Kretinga keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Rytas 2 will meet higher ranked Delikatesas (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kretinga will play against Vilkaviskis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
