Regular Season Round 9: Ponferrada - Tormes 86-83

Very expected game when 13th ranked Tormes (2-7) was edged on the road by sixth ranked Ponferrada (6-3) 86-83 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Guard Jorge Martinez (185-1996) stepped up and scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Alejandro Jorda (193-1995, college: Cuesta JC) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Four Ponferrada players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Ghanian guard Bright Mensah (193-1992, college: William Pater., agency: Helping Ballers) with 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and point guard Kevin Navarro (183-1992, agency: Promo Sport ID) scored 19 points. Tormes' coach Oscar Nunez tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ponferrada. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Tormes lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ponferrada will meet higher ranked Clavijo (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tormes will play against Navarra (#4) and hope to secure a win.
