Regular Season Round 9: Perkunas - Tornado KM 71-88

Everything could happen in Kaunas at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Tornado KM and 8th ranked Perkunas had identical 3-5 record. But Perkunas was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Kaunas 88-71 on Wednesday night. Tornado KM outrebounded Perkunas 61-47 including 19 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tornado KM made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was power forward Emilis Baltrimavicius (203-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Edvinas Bublys (181-2005) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Tornado KM players scored in double figures. Tornado KM's coach Sarunas Zablockis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Martynas Mejaras (-2005) who recorded 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Justas Stasaitis (-2005) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Tornado KM (4-5) moved-up to eighth place. Perkunas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Tornado KM will meet at home bottom-ranked Plunges (#12) in the next round. Perkunas will play against the league's second-placed VKKM where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
