There was an upset when 3rd placed Rapid (6-2) lost to seventh ranked Craiova (4-4) in Bucuresti 63-79 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 39-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Craiova forced 19 Rapid turnovers. The former international point guard Giordan Watson (179-1985, college: CMU) nailed 15 points and 8 assists for the winning side and Serbian Milivoje Mijovic (200-1991, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Craiova players scored in double figures. Craiova's coach Vitaly Stepanovski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Tyler Stone (203-1991, college: SEMO) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import Christopher Evans (203-1991, college: Kent St.) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Rapid in the defeat. Craiova moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pitesti and Voluntari. Loser Rapid still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Timisoara. Craiova will meet Miercurea Ciuc (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rapid will play against Sibiu (#4) and hope to secure a win.
