Regular Season Round 8: Yambol - CSKA 90-65

An interesting game took place in Yambol where higher ranked CSKA (3-5) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Yambol (3-4) 90-65. Yambol dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to CSKA's 32. Yambol forced 24 CSKA turnovers. The winners were led by Cape Verdean-American guard Williams Tavares (198-1995, college: Fordham) who scored that evening 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the former international Ivan Lilov (194-1988) supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Yambol's coach Aleksandar Aleksiev felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 6 assists by American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-1990, college: Tulane, agency: Helping Ballers) did not help to save the game for CSKA. The former international forward Aleks Simeonov (200-1993) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Four CSKA players scored in double figures. Yambol moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted CSKA dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Yambol will play against higher ranked Levski (#4) in Sofia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CSKA will play at home against Cherno More and hopes to get back on the winning track.
