Regular Season Round 9: Poltava - MBC-Niko 2 67-77

The most interesting game of round 7 was a home defeat of 3rd placed Poltava (4-2) to first ranked MBC-Niko 2 (5-1) 77-67 in the game for the first place. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by MBC-Niko 2. Poltava managed to win third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for swingman Oleksiy Kochura (195-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Bogdan Lukian (183-1999) helped adding 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. MBC-Niko 2's coach Valentin Berestnev used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Sergiy Kuzmenko (205-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and guard Alexander Rybalko (190-1979, agency: BIG) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MBC-Niko 2 have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record. Newly promoted Poltava dropped to the second position with two games lost.
