Regular Season Round 8: TSU - Vera 105-74
Date: December 11, 2022
Rather predictable result in Tbilisi where seventh ranked TSU (3-4) smashed bottom-ranked Vera (2-6) 105-74 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 105-74. TSU well out of reach of Vera shooting 71.2 percent from the field. TSU had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for TSU especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Vera's players. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Beka Bekauri (209-1991, agency: BIG) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international point guard George Tsintsadze (192-1986) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American swingman Jamir Coleman (201, college: CCSU, agency: Haylett Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and his fellow American import guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-1996, college: Findlay, OH) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TSU moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kutaisi. Loser Vera dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Mega. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mega.
