Regular Season Round 9: Rilski - Shumen 103-71

Undefeated leader Rilski delivered the ninth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked Shumen (2-8) 103-71 in Samokov. They outrebounded Shumen 40-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Rilski players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Shumen's players. It was a good game for the former international Chavdar Kostov (196-1988, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). American forward Evan Battey (203-1998, college: Colorado) contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Power forward Nikolay Georgiev (204-1995) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward Georgi Kenderov (200-1999) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Shumen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rilski (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Shumen lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Rilski will play against Yambol (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Shumen will play against Levski in Sofia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
