The most exciting game of round 7 in the D1 took place in Ashdod. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent E.Ramla (5-2) to leader M.Ashdod (7-0) 70-68 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of E.Ramla. They outrebounded E.Ramla 53-30 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (180-1996, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 11 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists. Her fellow American import point guard Natisha Hiedeman (173-1997, college: Marquette) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American forward Shakira Austin (196-1999, college: Ole Miss, agency: LBM Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Alyssa Baron (178-1992, college: Pennsylvania) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for E.Ramla. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. M.Ashdod have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Defending champion E.Ramla keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with M.Ramat Gan. M.Ashdod are looking forward to face Ramat Hasharon (#5) on the road in the next round. E.Ramla will play against ASA Jerusalem and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
