Bottom-ranked Gheorgheni (0-8) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Sibiu 2 (5-3) 82-61. The game was mostly controlled by Sibiu 2. Gheorgheni was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sibiu 2 shot 21 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Gheorgheni only scored two points from the stripe. Gheorgheni was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Mihai Banciu nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and Eduard Apostol (-2004) accounted for 18 points. Four Sibiu 2 players scored in double figures. Guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Tamas Laszlo added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Gheorgheni in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sibiu 2 have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 5-3 record having six points less than leader Phoenix Corona, which they share with Agronomia. Newly promoted Gheorgheni still closes the standings with eight games lost. Sibiu 2 will play against Oradea 2 (#6) at home in the next round. Gheorgheni will play against the league's leader Phoenix Corona in Brasov and hopes to get finally their first victory.
