The most exciting game of round 16 in the Korisliiga took place in Nokia. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Kotka (8-8) to eighth ranked Nokia (8-7) 73-71 in the game for the sixth place. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 18-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Malik Benlevi (198-1997, college: Georgia St., agency: Verus Management) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Johnathan Stove (193-1995, college: Louisiana, agency: One Motive Sports) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Benlevi is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Nokia players scored in double figures. American forward Jordan Giles (198-1998, college: UMKC, agency: One Motive Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Vili Nyman (198-1998) added 16 points in the effort for Kotka. Nokia moved-up to sixth place. Kotka at the other side dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Nokia are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Korihait (#12) in Uusikaupunki in the next round where they are favorite. Kotka will have a break next round.
