Regular Season Round 7: BVBS - BS Riga 36-61

One of the most interesting games of round 7 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. The game took place in Valmeira where eighth ranked BS Riga outleveled host BVBS (2-5) 61-36. BS Riga dominated on the defensive end, holding BVBS to just 3 points in second quarter. They outrebounded BVBS 43-22 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Marcis Osis (189-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 4 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Edvards Svalbe (202-2005) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side Ricards Liberts (197-2005) responded with 14 points and forward Karlis Baskis (200-2004) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory BS Riga went down to tenth position due to points difference, which they share with RHKK. BVBS lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth place with five games lost. They share the position with Ridzene. BS Riga will play against Myerscough (#14) in Preston in the next round. BVBS will play at home against North Atlantic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
