Regular Season Round 10: Frankfurt - Ludwigsburg 92-80
Date: December 17, 2022
Bottom-ranked Skyliners managed to get a second victory, breaking the five-game losing streak. This time they won against fourth-ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg in Frankfurt 92-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of EnBW Ludwigsburg. It looked good early as EnBW Ludwigsburg took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Skyliners had a 29-19 second period charge getting the lead and EnBW Ludwigsburg was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-92. American guard Marcus Lewis (196-1992, college: EKU) notched 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Lithuanian Laurynas Beliauskas (193-1997) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Five Skyliners players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 4 assists by American guard Isaiah Whitehead (191-1995, college: Seton Hall) did not help to save the game for EnBW Ludwigsburg. His fellow American import Justin Johnson (200-1996, college: WKU) added 8 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. EnBW Ludwigsburg's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Skyliners (2-8) moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Braunschweig and Bayreuth. EnBW Ludwigsburg at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Skyliners will play against higher ranked Seawolves (#9) in Rostock in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play at home against ratiopharm Ulm (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
