Regular Season Round 12: Polit-Halychyna - Dnipro 70-68

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Superleague took place in Lviv. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Dnipro (8-4) to fifth ranked Polit-Halychyna (4-5) 70-68 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Dnipro. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-68. Polit-Halychyna dominated on the defensive end, holding Dnipro to just 6 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was point guard Mykhailo Horobchenko (185-1998, agency: BIG) who scored 13 points and 8 assists. Guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-1990) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Polit-Halychyna players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (205-1989) who recorded 26 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Maksym Zakurdaev (196-1993) added 6 points and 10 assists respectively. Dnipro's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Polit-Halychyna maintains fifth position with 4-5 record. Dnipro at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Polit-Halychyna are looking forward to face league's leader Budivelnyk in Kyiv in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dnipro will play on the road against Stariy Lutsk and is hoping to win this game.
