There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Gaziantep (4-8) edged at home 10th ranked Merkezefendi (5-7) 80-78 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Damyean Dotson (196-1994, college: Houston) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists and Georgian-American point guard Conner Frankamp (185-1995, college: Wichita St.) who added 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Israeli-American guard Max Heidegger (191-1997, college: UCSB) with 29 points and 9 assists and Greek swingman Nikolaos Rogkavopoulos (203-2001) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Gaziantep and four Merkezefendi players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gaziantep maintains twelfth position with 4-8 record, which they share with Buyukcekmece and Konyaspor. Loser Merkezefendi dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Petkim and Bahcesehir. Gaziantep will meet higher ranked Efes (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Merkezefendi will play against the league's leader Turk Telekom (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
