There was no surprise in Sofia where 11th ranked Shumen (2-10) was crushed by fifth ranked CSKA (7-5) 79-58 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ryle Owens (192-1997, college: Young Harris) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Bahamas center Zane Knowles (208-1992, college: TAMUCC, agency: BIG) who added 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was power forward Nikolay Georgiev (204-1995) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Adriyan Sekulov (179-1996) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CSKA have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spartak Pleven. Shumen lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. CSKA will meet league's second-placed Balkan in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Shumen will play against Cherno More (#8) and hope to secure a win.
