Regular Season Round 18: Kauhajoki - Nokia 76-72

Very expected game when 5th ranked Nokia (9-8) was defeated on the road by first ranked Kauhajoki (15-2) 76-72 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Nokia was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of Kauhajoki, which allowed them to win the game. Kauhajoki outrebounded Nokia 43-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. American guard Cameron Jones (193-1989, college: NAU, agency: BIG) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Daniel Dolenc (205-1993, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Worth to mention Jones played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. Kauhajoki's coach Janne Koskimies used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Perrion Callandret (188-1995, college: Idaho) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Johnathan Stove (193-1995, college: Louisiana, agency: One Motive Sports) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Kauhajoki have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-2 record. Loser Nokia dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Kotka. Kauhajoki will meet Kotka (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Nokia will play against Lahti and hope to secure a win.
