Regular Season Round 20: Honka - Kauhajoki 92-85
Date: January 6, 2023
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Kauhajoki (17-3) in Espoo on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by eleventh ranked Honka (6-14) 92-85. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 33-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Honka shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jahlil Tripp (196-1997, college: Pacific, agency: Green Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and the former international Carl Lindbom (206-1991, agency: BIG) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American forward Lee Skinner (198-1992, college: Wofford) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import guard Cameron Jones (193-1989, college: NAU, agency: BIG) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoki's coach Janne Koskimies rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Honka maintains eleventh position with 6-14 record. Defending champion Kauhajoki still keeps top place with three games lost. Honka are looking forward to face higher ranked Kouvot (#5) in Kouvola in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kauhajoki will play at home against Kataja (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
