No shocking result in a game in Vienna where ninth ranked Arkadia Lions (6-9) defeated bottom-ranked Timberwolves (3-11) 73-64 on Friday. Timberwolves were trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-12 charge of Arkadia Lions, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 28. It was a great evening for Croatian forward Emilio Banic (197-1993) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Latvian center Ilja Gromovs (211-1994) helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Arkadia Lions players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Jakob Lohr (195-2002) with 25 points and American center Chris Vogt (213-1999, college: Wisconsin) scored 9 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Arkadia Lions have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Timberwolves lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. They share it with Eisenstadt. Arkadia Lions will meet at home higher ranked Dukes (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Timberwolves will play against Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (#4) and hope to secure a win.
