Regular Season Round 15: Almansa - Castello 82-77

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Castello (5-10) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Almansa (5-10) 82-77 on Saturday. Almansa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Jaime Fernandez (208-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Bosnian forward Lazar Mutic (204-1999) helped adding 14 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Eric Stutz (203-1992, college: EKU) with 26 points and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Jorge Bilbao (205-1995, college: UT Arlington) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Almansa moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ourense and Castello. Almansa will meet higher ranked Cantabria (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Castello will play against Oviedo and hope to secure a win.
