A very close game took place in Frankfurt between Skyliners and BG Goettingen. Seventeenth ranked Skyliners (4-10) got a very close home victory over higher ranked BG Goettingen (8-5). Skyliners managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of BG Goettingen. Skyliners made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Strangely BG Goettingen outrebounded Skyliners 32-19 including 23 on the defensive glass. Lithuanian Laurynas Beliauskas (193-1997) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Joshua Obiesie (198-2000) chipped in 17 points during the contest. American center Rayshaun Hammonds (206-1998, college: Georgia) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Norwegian point guard Harald Frey (188-1997, college: Montana St.) scored 9 points and 5 assists. Skyliners moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Heidelberg. Loser BG Goettingen dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Ludwigsburg. Skyliners will meet at home higher ranked Hakro Merlins (#13) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BG Goettingen will play against Hamburg Towers (#11) and hope to secure a win.
