Regular Season Round 20: Kataja - Nokia 95-81

Everything went according to plan in Joensuu where third ranked Kataja (13-7) beat 6th ranked Nokia (9-10) 95-81 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Kataja. Nokia managed to win fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Lamonte Turner (188-1997, college: Tennessee) who scored 26 points and 4 assists. Forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (198-1991, college: Temple) chipped in 22 points. Point guard Perrion Callandret (188-1995, college: Idaho) produced 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and power forward Alan Herndon (206-1994, college: Wyoming) added 17 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kataja have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-7 record having four points less than leader Kauhajoki. Nokia lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Kataja will meet league's leader Kauhajoki on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nokia will play against Pyrinto (#9) and hope to secure a win.
