Regular Season Round 15: Godella - Alginet 79-80

There was a minor upset in Valencia where 10th ranked Godella (5-10) was edged by thirteenth ranked Alginet (5-10) 80-79 on Wednesday. Alginet made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Hunter Preston (201, college: Columbus St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. Center Luis Verdeguer (205-1987) helped adding 11 points and 13 rebounds. Alginet's coach Jose Canales used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Argentinian-Italian center Gonzalo Bressan (205-2001, agency: Interperformances) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Rafael Vila (195-2001) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alginet moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Godella. Godella lost fifth consecutive game. Alginet will meet at home league's leader Menorca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Godella will play against Cartagena (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
