An interesting game was played in Las Palmas where Cartagena (#8) won against host Gran Canaria 2 (#4) 74-67 on Wednesday evening. Cartagena shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. It was a great evening for American forward Isaiah Powell (198, college: Vermont) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Juan Pedro Jimenez (202-1997) helped adding 15 points. The best for the losing side was Slovenian point guard Dan Duscak (185-2002) with 14 points and 5 assists and forward Gerardo Perez (199-2002, agency: BIG) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Gran Canaria 2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cartagena have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Melilla and La Roda. Gran Canaria 2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Cartagena will meet at home Godella (#10) in the next round. Gran Canaria 2 will play against Salou (#13) and hope to secure a win.
