Regular Season Round 15: Cherkasy - Kyiv Basket 72-87

Very expected game when 8th ranked Cherkasy (3-12) was defeated at home by third ranked Kyiv Basket (11-4) 87-72 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Kyiv Basket. Cherkasy managed to win second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-1997, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Nazar Kisilchuk (195-1997) helped adding 18 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was American BJ Maxwell (194-1997, college: IUPUI) with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and center Sergii Skira (210-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Kyiv Basket and four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kyiv Basket. They maintain third place with 11-4 record having four points less than leader Budivelnyk. Loser Cherkasy keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Kyiv Basket will meet Polit-Halychyna (#5) in the next round. Cherkasy will play against Hoverla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
