Regular Season Round 16: Castello - Oviedo 75-71

Rather expected game when 16th ranked Oviedo (4-12) lost to thirteenth ranked Castello (6-10) in Castellon 71-75 on Friday. The winners were led by the former international center Xavier Rey (209-1987) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Eric Stutz (203-1992, college: EKU) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Castello players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 assists by Icelandic guard Thorir Thorbjarnarson (198-1998, college: Nebraska) did not help to save the game for Oviedo. Guard Jose Gonzalez (192-1994) added 16 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Castello moved-up to eleventh place. Oviedo lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Castello will meet higher ranked Alicante (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Oviedo will play against Cantabria (#10) and hope to secure a win.
