Regular Season Round 17: Ferrara - Rimini 75-85
Date: January 15, 2023
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Rimini (8-9) won against on the road 8th ranked Ferrara (8-9) 85-75 on Sunday. Rimini made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jazz Johnson (178-1996, college: Nevada) who scored 27 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Canadian-Nigerian power forward Derek Ogbeide (203-1997, college: Georgia) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Rimini's coach Mattia Ferrari used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Andy Cleaves II (188-1996, college: CS Stanislaus, agency: Players Group) produced 20 points and naturalized Serbian Mihajlo Jerkovic (204-1999) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rimini moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ferrara and Nardo. Rimini will meet higher ranked Udine (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ferrara will play against the league's second-placed Cento and will have a slim chance for a victory.
