Regular Season Round 15: Mechelen - Aalst 90-98

There was a surprise result in Mechelen where eighth ranked Okapi Aalst (6-9) defeated 3rd placed Kangoeroes (8-5) 98-90 on Sunday. Okapi Aalst made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian Nikola Popovic (211-1997, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American point guard Jordan Walker (186-1997, college: Morehead St.) chipped in 22 points. Five Okapi Aalst players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brian Fobbs (196-1998, college: Towson) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and center Mattias Palinckx (202-1997) added 15 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively. Kangoeroes' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Okapi Aalst maintains eighth place with 6-9 record. Loser Kangoeroes dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Okapi Aalst will meet at home league's leader Spirou Charleroi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kangoeroes will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Jemappes and hope to secure a win.
