Regular Season Round 15: Thor AK - Selfoss 84-103

Very expected game in Akureyri where 10th ranked Thor AK (1-14) was rolled over by fourth ranked Selfoss (9-6) 103-84 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Selfoss. Thor AK managed to win third quarter 31-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Selfoss forced 21 Thor AK turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (203-1984, college: UT Martin) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Arnaldur Grimsson (195-2002) helped adding 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Selfoss players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Spanish point guard Arturo Fernandez (183-1990, agency: Helping Ballers) with 47 points (!!!) and forward Baldur Johannsson (195-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Thor AK's coach Daniel Halldorsson rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Selfoss maintains fourth place with 9-6 record. Thor AK lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Selfoss will meet at home league's second-placed Hamar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Thor AK will play against Armann (#9) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
