Regular Season Round 19: Usti n/Labem - Brno 92-90
Date: January 18, 2023
The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Brno (14-5) in Usti nad Labem on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by seventh ranked Usti n/Labem (11-8) 92-90. Usti n/Labem made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kris Martin (193-1997, college: Colorado St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). His fellow American import guard Tony Hicks (186-1994, college: Louisville, agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with 24 points and 5 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Richard Balint (192-1996) answered with 24 points and 9 assists and the former international point guard Viktor Pulpan (191-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Brno. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brno's coach Lubomir Ruzicka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Usti n/Labem have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pardubice and Opava. Brno at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Usti n/Labem is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Olomoucko (#12) in Prostejov in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brno will play at home against Decin (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
