Regular Season Round 15: Liepaja/LSSS - TTT Riga 47-78

One of the most interesting games of round 15 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Eighth ranked TTT Riga outleveled host Liepaja/LSSS (7-5) 78-47. TTT Riga held Liepaja/LSSS to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Liepaja/LSSS 47-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for center Marta Miscenko (192-1995, college: Wingate) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (182-1980, college: Siena) accounted for 7 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Latvian forward Paula Klescova (176-2001) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Enija Kivite (176-2003) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Liepaja/LSSS in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for TTT Riga. Defending Latvian champion (6-5) moved-up to seventh place. Loser Liepaja/LSSS keeps the sixth position with five games lost. TTT Riga will meet at home higher ranked Kibirkstis-MRU (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liepaja/LSSS will play against LCC Tarp. in Klaipeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
