Very predictable result when second ranked Njardvik (10-3) smashed at home 9th ranked Hottur (5-8) 109-90 on Thursday. The game without a history. Njardvik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 56.3 percentage. Njardvik looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Croatian power forward Mario Matasovic (200-1993, college: Sacred Heart) fired 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Dedrick Basile (178-1994, college: CSUB) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists. Njardvik's coach Benedikt Gudmundsson used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) produced 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Hungarian point guard Obie Trotter (192-1984, college: AAMU) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Njardvik and four Hottur players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Njardvik. They maintain second place with 10-3 record behind leader Valur, which they share with Keflavik. Newly promoted Hottur dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Stjarnan. Njardvik will meet Tindastoll (#5) in the next round. Hottur will play against Thor Thorl and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
