Regular Season Round 17: BG TVO / Jahn - Hagen-Haspe 70-96
Date: January 21, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked BG TVO / Jahn (6-11) was outscored by eighth ranked Hagen-Haspe (9-8) in Lindhorst 96-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hagen-Haspe. BG TVO / Jahn managed to win third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely BG TVO / Jahn outrebounded Hagen-Haspe 24-11. American swingman Ricardo Artis II (198-1993, college: Wiley) nailed 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Jordan Iloanya (195-2005) accounted for 20 points. Artis II is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Hagen-Haspe's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Syrian power forward Mohamad Atli (203-1995) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and French forward Jessy Kangaba (196-1995) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for BG TVO / Jahn in the defeat. Hagen-Haspe moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Recklinghausen and Koeln DTV. BG TVO / Jahn lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Limburg. Hagen-Haspe will meet at home Koeln DTV (#4) in the next round. BG TVO / Jahn will play against Hamm (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
