Regular Season Round 17: Alicante - Castello 74-70

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Castello (6-11) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Alicante (11-6) 74-70 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Alicante made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Eduard Gatell (206-1989) who scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Sean McDonnell (203-1995, college: Westmont, agency: Helping Ballers) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Eric Stutz (203-1992, college: EKU) produced 14 points and point guard Joan Faner (176-1990) added 9 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Alicante maintains sixth place with 11-6 record. Castello at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Almansa. Alicante will meet at home Cantabria (#10) in the next round. Castello will play against the league's second-placed Andorra and hope to secure a win.
