Regular Season Round 21: Poitiers - Challans 85-77

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Vendee Challans (12-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Poitiers (12-9) 85-77 on Tuesday. American swingman Marcus Relphorde (198-1988, college: Colorado) stepped up and scored 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Ivorian center Bali Coulibaly (199-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Poitiers' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Paul Turpin (192-1993) with 16 points and 5 assists and naturalized American forward Marc Gosselin (201-1996, college: WCU) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Poitiers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Vendee Challans. Poitiers will meet Lourdes-Tarbes (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vendee Challans will play against Toulouse (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
