Regular Season Round 16: Aalst - Charleroi 86-80

Round in BNXT League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Aalst where host Okapi Aalst (7-9) beat league's leader Spirou Charleroi (10-5) 86-80 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Spirou Charleroi. 26 personal fouls committed by Spirou Charleroi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Montenegrin Ivan Maras (207-1986) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Swiss forward Michel-Ofik Nzege (203-1992, college: ECU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Okapi Aalst players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican-Panamanian point guard Jhivvan Jackson (183-1998, college: UTSA) produced 17 points and swingman Marlon Makwa (197-2002) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Spirou Charleroi's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Okapi Aalst moved-up to sixth place. Spirou Charleroi at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Antwerp. Spirou Charleroi will play next round against league's leader Antwerp Giants trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Okapi Aalst will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Jemappes.
