Regular Season Round 17: Daugavpils - TTT Riga 68-90
Date: January 28, 2023
One of the most interesting games of round 17 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Eighth ranked TTT Riga outleveled host Daugavpils Universitate (1-10) 90-68. They outrebounded Daugavpils Universitate 41-24 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (182-1980, college: Siena) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Vanesa Jasa (180-2003) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Latvian guard Snezana Gleba (169-2004) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and Ukrainian power forward Viktoriya Babych (183-1999, agency: BIG) scored 13 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Five TTT Riga and four Daugavpils Universitate players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Latvian champion (7-6) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with LCC Tarp. Daugavpils Universitate lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost.
