Regular Season Round 19: Giessen - Karlsruhe PS 90-104

There was an upset in Giessen where 4th placed 46ers (12-7) were defeated by ninth ranked Lions (10-9) 104-90 on Saturday. Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) helped adding 23 points and 7 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Nico Brauner (187-1994, college: St.Mary's) responded with 22 points and Serbian forward Stefan Fundic (200-1994, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lions moved-up to eighth place. Loser 46ers keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Lions will meet at home Duesseldorf (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. 46ers will play against Titans (#7) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the BBL just one year after relegation.
