Regular Season Round 12: Delta - TSU 100-103

Another exciting game took place in Gurjaani where fifth ranked TSU (6-5) edged by three points 6th ranked Delta (5-6) 103-100. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. TSU made 27-of-34 charity shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Delta was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Djimon Henson (193-1998, college: Morehead St.) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard George Tsintsadze (192-1986) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Otar Pkhakadze (188-1993, college: Simpson, CA) replied with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and American Derick Newton (198-1995, college: Stetson) added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Delta. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. TSU maintains fifth position with 6-5 record. Delta lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Batumi. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Kavkasia.
