There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Selcuklu (0-16) was outleveled by second ranked Besiktas (11-5) in Istanbul 91-61 on Saturday. Besiktas held Selcuklu to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 51.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Besiktas forced 25 Selcuklu turnovers and had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Selcuklu's players. The winners were led by Ata Engin (-2004) who scored that evening 17 points and 5 rebounds and Ahmet Ozbek (-2005) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 24 points and 9 rebounds by Ekrem Mutlusoy (-2006) did not help to save the game for Selcuklu. Mehmet Turkmen (-2005) added 20 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Besiktas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-5 record having five points less than leader Gaziantep, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Selcuklu still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Besiktas will meet Turk Telekom (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Selcuklu will play against Darussafaka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
