An interesting game for Empoli (13-3) which hosted in Empoli 4th ranked Battipaglia (10-6). First ranked Empoli had an easy win 62-47. The winners were led by the former international guard Antonia Peresson (170-1995, college: Georgia Tech) who scored that evening 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Bulgarian power forward Katrin Stoichkova (177-1999) supported her with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points by point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (165-1990) did not help to save the game for Battipaglia. Center Adriana Cutrupi (186-1996) added 7 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Empoli maintains first position with 13-3 record, which they share with Udine and Costa Masnaga. Battipaglia lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Matelica. Empoli will meet Matelica (#4) on the road in the next round. Battipaglia will play against San Salvatore and hope to secure a win.
