Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Besancon (12-11) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Caen (15-8) 89-74 on Friday. Caen forced 21 Besancon turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Tyere Marshall (206-1997, college: Rider, agency: SLN) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Caen players scored in double figures. Caen's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mali point guard Siriman Kanoute (181-2001) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American Mykal Riley (198-1985, college: Alabama) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Caen moved-up to third place, which they share with Le Havre and Mulhouse. Loser Besancon keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Caen will meet Lyon (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
