There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Getafe (8-6) won against on the road 4th placed Alcala (9-6) 76-71 on Saturday. Argentinian swingman Joaquin Sanchez (188-1998) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and swingman Nicolas Gonzalez (-1998) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Oscar Mendez (182-2000) responded with 23 points and American forward Sean Harris (201-1989, college: Utah St.) scored 5 points and 16 rebounds. Four Alcala players scored in double figures. Alcala's coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Getafe moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Oh!Tels ULB and CBSFDO. Loser Alcala keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Getafe will meet at home Majadahonda (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alcala will play against the league's leader Real Madrid 2 (#1) and hope to secure a win.
