Regular Season Round 18: Tormes - Talavera 65-72

There was a small surprise in Salamanca where thirteenth ranked Talavera (5-13) defeated 11th ranked Tormes (6-12) 72-65 on Saturday. Talavera forced 19 Tormes turnovers. Guard Josep Peris (192-2000) scored 23 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Elijah Mcray chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Senegalese center Wally Niang (206-1996) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and American-Armenian forward Zachary Tavitian (203-1999, college: W.New England) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Talavera moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with L'Hospitalet and Alginet. Tormes lost third consecutive game. Tormes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Talavera will meet at home league's second-placed Clavijo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tormes will play against Real Canoe (#12) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
