There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Imola (7-10) edged at home higher ranked Ancona (10-8) 68-67 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was swingman Nunzio Corcelli (188-1991) who scored 15 points. Forward Alex Ranuzzi (195-1986, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four Imola players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Tommaso Carnovali (196-1993, agency: SLN) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and center Alberto Bedin (202-1999) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Imola moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Senigallia. Loser Ancona dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with 9 other teams. Imola will meet higher ranked Ozzano (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ancona will play against Empoli (#15) and hope to secure a win.
