There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Manises-Quart (5-12) defeated at home 9th ranked Valencia 2 (7-10) 69-54 on Sunday. Manises-Quart forced 27 Valencia 2 turnovers. Guard Luis Torrijo (184-1993) stepped up and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Antonio Moral (-2002) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Carlos Campillos (185-2004) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Salvador Gallego (197-2006) scored 9 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manises-Quart moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Paterna. Loser Valencia 2 keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Manises-Quart will meet higher ranked Castello 2 (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valencia 2 will play against Aldaia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
